We recommend
Naxos Music Library
This online resource contains an enormous number of recordings which you can stream for free on your computer. The largest component is classical music — you can find a recording of just about anything in the classical repertoire. Because the collection is so large, it is usually possible to find a variety of interpretations to compare. It includes some New Zealand composers.
The collection also includes a solid range of jazz classics, some blues, rock and contemporary jazz and an extensive range of world music.
In addition it has written commentaries, graded exam pieces to listen to and tutorials aimed at music examinations in other countries, such as Australia and Britain, which include music history and analysis.
