NZ madeBen Fussell of Rangiora High School has been announced as the winner of the Designing our future competition run by the Design and Arts College of New Zealand.

Ben's New Zealand made entry beat entrants from 16 different countries to win the top prize - the opportunity to study at the Design and Arts College for two years, worth $11,000.

Half man, half machine

The winning design, Half man, half machine, comprised 30 Photoshop layers to make an image of a human character made of part metal. The design looked at the future and how humanity will one day start to mix things which they shouldn’t.

Other competition winners were Serena Chen from New Plymouth Girls High School and Brennan Keys from Freyberg High School in Palmerston North. The winning entries will be shown in an exhibition at D&A, 116 Worcester Street.
