As leaves fall from trees they take on new beauty and meaning with a change in colour
and texture. For the weavers in He rau Tipuna, weaving knowledge and the garments they
produce, like leaves, respond to changing materials and process - from the traditional to
the outrageous.
Through their labours the weavers tell the ‘story’ of their garments - a commentary, a
memory or a personality. They ask - what are we, the present generation, leaving those who
follow?
