Youth Week 2010
Youth Week is on from 22 to 30 May 2010.
It is all about celebrating young people! Get on board, and support Rangatahi ora: Whānau ora, connecting young people and families.
Christchurch Youth Week events
Youth Week is celebrated with events around New Zealand. Local Christchurch and Canterbury events include:
- WE Speak 2010
- WE Speak is a youth conference that has been running now since 2007, giving young people an opportunity to speak out on issues affecting them. If you are passionate, well networked, have some good ideas and want to be a part of the solutions, then this day is for you. Take the day off school (check with your school/parents first) and come have your say on youth issues.
Brought to you by Otautahi Youth Council and White Elephant Trust.
- CHARTFEST 2010
- CHARTFEST is a music festival and expo. It also presents local and national music industry organisations and wider industry training opportunities via the career and industry expo (coinciding with Youth Week), music performance clinics, and industry workshops hosted by top international music representatives.
Youth organisations and resources
Here are some websites and organisations that focus on youth issues:

Their site has useful features such as How to tell government what you think and online youth participation websites and toolkits.
- Youth Parliament 2010
- Youth Parliament 2010 is an opportunity for young New Zealanders to learn about New Zealand’s democracy and influence public decision-making. The Youth Parliament is held every three years, and this year it takes place on 6 and 7 July.
