Pig Out is one of the more fabulous bands to grace the Christchurch music scene in 2006. They started off with a defiantly danceable electro style, and that strong and distinctive sound has evolved and progressed throughout the year. Pig Out live is a killer prospect, visual and aural stimulation aplenty. If Pig Out were a colour it would be silver and disco spangly.
Their album "Club Poems" was released in November and it has raked in some stirling reviews - 5 stars and "Album of the Month" in Real Groove magazine and 4½ stars in the Sunday Star Times.
The track Maz opens the album like a manifesto of tuneful angularity. Other standout tracks include Disco Bag and White Boy (I don't know what your name is, but I know that I can show you a good time).
Pig Out have also been invited to participate at the SXSW Music and Media Conference at Austin, Texas in March 2007.
"Chow down - out of nowhere, New Zealand's finest live dancepunk band have made the best techno album to come out of this country ever ... Having built a reputation on the back of a monolithic live show that sacrifices both themselves and the crowd upon the altar of all-night dancing, Christchurch's Pig Out have exceeded themselves with their debut." - Real Groove
"One of the most surprising and refreshing electronica albums to come out of New Zealand this year" - Sunday Star Times, 4.5/5
"The greatest live act to pounce on Christchurch" - 98.5 RDU
