In 2007 a conference was held following the deaths of Jane Young and Hannah Rossiter at a party on Edgeware Road. At the end of May this year, the report was released to the public. The Pulse encourages all youth to read and share the report to help build a safe and vibrant city for young people.
The report covers:
“Despite the tight timeframes and the difficulties in engaging some secondary schools, the youth work sector and community financiers, the youth forum was a great success. Thanks must go to Unlimited School and Community Trust for committing support and resources to the project. Young people who attended were grateful for the opportunity not only to express views but also to contribute to solutions and be part of action groups to implement these solutions.
In total 39 recommendations for action were put forward by the participants at conference, potentially creating a large work programme for the community sector and local government.
It was evident that young people are calling for change. Now they await role models, leaders and supporters to champion these changes.
